Otaru Station is the transfer station when you’re travelling to Niseko from New Chitose Airport or Sapporo with an upscale modern makeover in 2012 including trendy shops along the concourse. Otaru Station is one of the most popular tourist destinations including a sushi stand in Tarche operated by Isezushi Restaurant. Here’s where you can get a drink, enjoy freshly baked pastry or even some sushi while you are waiting for your next train. Enjoy lots of dining options such as stand-up sushi bar,”Burger King”, the popular “Saint Germain” bakery, and “Kiosk Shikikan” selling many Hokkaido delicacies (opened from 6:45 am to 22:00). If you have time, explore Otaru before going to Niseko where you can walk down the main road from the station to the famous canal area of the town. It takes about 70 minutes from New Chitose Airport to Otaru Station, and about 90 minutes from Otaru to Niseko by train, however please be aware of a limited train service schedule. The outside wicket area connects to a network of 4 Otaru Stroller’s tourist buses @ 210yen per ride. There is also a bus service running three times a day from the station to Niseko, taking about 2 hours.
