Yama Dining serves Western style dishes using delicious regional produce, with family friendly value in an upscale atmosphere located at Yama Shizen West, just steps from the ski lifts and a short walk from downtown Hirafu Village.
Newly renovated for the 2013/14 winter season, Yama Dining serves a morning Western style breakfast buffet for ¥1,800 yen, which is very good, however the main focus is on the dinner menu. Chef Abe san, a Hokkaido local, has based this diverse menu on his experience working across both Japan and Europe. He focuses on dishes made from locally sourced meats, seafood and vegetables, with an eye towards high quality and sustainability. There are also vegetarian and gluten free options available. The new dinner menu is reasonably priced, with main dishes from ¥2,000, course menu options from ¥4,000, draft beer from ¥500, and glass wine from ¥600. For a special taste of something local, try the Salmon Steak and Soba-Sushi; grilled Yakumo, Hokkaido salmon and Hokkaido “soba-noodle sushi rolls” with asparagus and teriyaki-wasabi sauce, or the Beef Sirloin Steak; grilled Shiraoi sirloin with chef’s honey-sour mountain grape sauce. Yama Dining is located on the first floor of the Yama Dining West building, just a few minute’s walk from Hirafu’s main street and steps from the ski lifts and gondola. It’s about a 4 minute walk from the Seicomart at Hirafu’s main intersection.
